38 weeks and counting...

Here I am at 38 weeks and am more than ready for this baby to get here. I know, i know, I'm still a couple weeks away from my due date, blah, blah, blah, as my loving husband reminds me every day! :) lol. But things have gotten pretty darn uncomfortable and painful as this little princess has dropped low into my pelvic region so I'm definitely counting the days. I went to the Dr. again today and was pretty disappointed with his report of me having made zero progress since last week. Still sitting at 1 cm (better than nothing I guess!). When he told me I just said, "are you serious, nothing new!? Am I at least effaced at all?" He just kindly chuckled and said, "um, a little bit." aka-not really, but I'll throw you a bone. lol So then my immediate next question- "when will we start to consider an induction?" Disclaimer-I'm probably the single most impatient person in this world. He assured me that it was in both the baby's and my best interest to at least wait until we are closer to my due date before we start heading in that direction. Which I already knew, but it was worth a shot right? My Dr. is great and assured me that this is usually where women sit at this point in pregnancy and to not worry. To be honest, I'm not surprised by the news since I'm hardly having any contractions but I thought all this head-butting she is constantly doing would do something. But I am so grateful for her good health and that she is growing strong and only want what is in her best interest so I will continue to wait till she is ready. Here are a few more random thoughts I have had as late...
-I realized that the pregnancy "waddle" becomes necessary to get around. I was always really conscious of this earlier in my pregnancy and always tried to walk as normal as possible because I didn't want to be one of those pregnant girls. lol. But then I started feeling like I was walking with a softball between my legs and it no longer became a choice.
-When you are out running errands random people either stare at you or make the most random comments to you. My favorite was when I was at the grocery store and this clerk comes straight up to me and says, "Ms, I just want to let you know that security has been notified because we know you really just have a turkey stuffed under your shirt!"-he just busted up laughing and walked away. hahaha, I didn't even know what to say!
-I'm so excited to meet our little peanut that I have worried about, prayed for, and loved entirely since the day she was the size of "a period at the end of a sentence." And to be honest, it still doesn't seem real to me and don't think it will until she is in my arms.
Here is a 38 week picture. Sorry it's an awkward bathroom photo, but that's the best you're going to get for now. :)

The Nursery

The nursery is officially finished! :) I love the way it turned out. There were times when I would second think everything but it all came together. My camera really isn't the best at capturing the colors exactly but I tried to get them to turn out as close as I could to how it actually looks.
First off, I love how the gray color turned out on the walls. These pictures don't do it justice. I was nervous at first but we both love it. In fact, Scotty came in one time and said he would love this color in his own room. Aren't the prints above the crib adorable??? My sister-in-law Lyndsay designed them for me and I am so happy with how they turned out. She is so talented, check out her etsy shop here.
I was able to pick out the fabric I wanted for the crib bedding and my mother-in-law sewed the whole thing for me and made the matching quilt. She did a great job and I'm grateful for her hard work on it.

My sister-in-law sent me this idea for the balls early in my pregnancy before I was introduced to the wonderful world of pinterest. I thought they were adorable but had no clue how to make them until I found this tutorial off of pinterest. Let me tell you, these were a labor of love. It was SUPER time consuming and a lot of work. But I'm glad I did it.

This rocking chair was Scott's grandma's and I'm glad that I get to use it. My cousin Becca gave me this fabric which she used at my baby shower. I thought it was super cute so my mother-in-law made it into a seat cushion for me. She also made the valence.
I know it's not necessary to get the nursery done before the baby comes because she will spend the first months in her cradle next to our bed, but I really wanted to. It's kept me busy the past month and gets me so excited for her to be here. I think we are really close to having everything ready for her. My father-in-law is making a cradle for us and I'm so excited to see how it turns out. I'm 37 weeks tomorrow which makes me full-term and only 3 weeks away from my due date! I'm ready to get this show on the road, I hope the time doesn't drag too bad!

Baby Updates

I am currently 36 weeks!! That means in 4 weeks or less (hopefully) we will have our little girl here! We are both so excited for her to be here. I feel like I know her so much more since my belly is constantly doing the wave and I can start to feel little body parts. I have weekly appointments now which I love, it makes it seem so close and there is nothing better than getting to hear the heartbeat all the time. At our last appointment we got to have an ultrasound to see if she was head down. It was so fun to see her and see how big she is now. She was head down and everything looked great so we are hoping she stays that way! :) I am definitely getting uncomfortable, have lots of back pain, and getting a good nights rest has become laughable. But it's all worth it and the bigger I get, the sooner she will be here! I have been busy nesting and getting things ready. It's so fun to clean, wash, and organize everything. The nursery is about 90% complete and I love how it turned out (I'll post pics when it's completely done). I have one more baby shower on Saturday and then we will just need to finish up our last minute preparations! My good friend Whitney took some maternity pictures for us before we left Provo. She did such a great job and we love how they turned out! Check out her photography blog by clicking here. I was 31 1/2 weeks when these were taken...

Christmas

We spent this Christmas with the Martin's in El Dorado Hills. All of his brothers were able to come which was great and so fun to spend time with the family. We were sad when everyone left! During the time that family was here we stayed busy playing games, going to movies, delicious family dinners, going out to eat, playing with the cute nieces and nephews, opening Christmas presents, etc. It's always great when the family is able to get together and we can't wait till we get to see everyone again.
Laura put together a fun program Christmas Eve. The Nativity scene was acted out...
 Pretty Mary

 Brian played multiple roles...
And Santa even came to visit!!
Can you guess who Santa is??

Christmas Day after church...
We had a wonderful Christmas!! Fun to think that we will have a little one next year!
